Series background & context

The Priestly Family series leans into contemporary romance with a strong family core. These books are about attraction, yes, but they are just as interested in trust, support, and the ways relatives and close friends shape a love story before the couple even realizes what is happening.

The Priestly world feels warm and social. People know each other's business. They show up uninvited, hand out opinions freely, and still manage to be there when things get hard. That makes the series feel cozy without becoming quiet. There is always some emotional motion in the room.

And there is plenty of romantic chaos.

Across the books, Cooper plays with several favorite romance setups, opposites attract, fake dating, second chances, friends becoming lovers, and people trying very hard not to fall for someone who already matters too much. Believing in You introduces the series with Harrison and Nyla, two people who could not seem more different on paper. Finding You pushes the emotional stakes with a connection that changes after one unforgettable night. Daring to Love You adds fake dating and brother's-best-friend tension, while Surrendering to You returns to the ache of unfinished history. Waiting for You brings friendship, healing, and a chance at something lasting.

What keeps the series feeling unified is the Priestly family itself. Even when each book follows a different couple, the surrounding relationships help ground everything. There is a sense that these characters belong to one another long before romance enters the chat. That gives the series a steady emotional base.

The tone is contemporary and relationship driven, but not flimsy. Cooper lets her characters carry hurt, disappointment, and fear of being wrong again. At the same time, the books stay readable and welcoming. Nobody is drowning in angst forever. The stories move, and they move toward connection.

If you want Sharon C Cooper at her most family-focused, this is a great series to try. It has warmth, meddling, chemistry, and enough emotional variety to keep the books from blending together. The Priestly stories feel modern and affectionate, the kind of romances where falling in love matters, but so does the circle of people waiting just outside the door.
