Series background & context

The Pirate's Prize series is historical romance set around a secluded tropical island near Madagascar. Tina Donahue fills the setting with sailors, pirates, outsiders, and people who arrive with a plan only to find their assumptions challenged.

The island is more than a backdrop. Its distance from England and its complicated community give the characters room to imagine a different future, while the threat of returning enemies keeps that freedom from feeling secure. Romance unfolds alongside questions of loyalty, survival, and whether a person can leave an old life behind.

In First Comes Desire, Diana Fletcher travels to the island looking for her brother and intending to confront the pirate she blames for his fate. Her encounter with Tristan Kent quickly proves that the story she has been told may be incomplete.

The later books continue the island setting with new central relationships. Expect historical adventure, danger at sea and on land, sensual romance, and characters pushed to choose between duty and a life that feels more true.

Start with First Comes Desire, then continue with Days of Desire and Forbidden Desire. Reading in order gives the clearest sense of the island community and the threats facing it.
