Series background & context
Penton Legacy is a paranormal romance series about a vampire community trying to survive after a global health crisis changes everything. A vaccine used during a pandemic has made most human blood toxic to vampires, leaving them hungry, exposed, and divided. In the small Alabama town of Penton, vampire Aidan Murphy attempts something risky: a community where vampires and unvaccinated human donors can live together by choice.
That hope is under constant pressure. Penton is not only dealing with scarcity and fear, but with the Vampire Tribunal, a powerful governing body that wants control over the community and its future. Each book follows a different couple, while the larger fight to protect Penton carries through the whole series.
Redemption begins with Aidan and Dr. Krystal Harris, a human doctor drawn into Penton's problems. Absolution centers on Aidan's second-in-command, Mirren Kincaid, a former Tribunal executioner trying to escape the violence of his past, and Glory Cummings, a human woman with unusual gifts. Their stories establish Penton as a refuge, but also show how fragile that refuge is.
The stakes rise in Omega, when the town's survivors are forced into an underground fortress. Will Ludlam, a Tribunal defector with a polished public front, and former Army officer Randa Thomas must work together while Penton's enemies close in. Allegiance expands the world further, bringing in the Omega Force and shapeshifters as Penton tries to rebuild while sabotage and old rivalries threaten its people.
The final book, Illumination, follows human psychic Nik Dimitrou and tropical-medicine researcher Shay Underwood. Their paths cross as the conflict with the Tribunal moves toward open war. Previous couples remain important throughout, so the series rewards readers who follow the books in order.
These stories are romantic, but they are also about chosen family, loyalty, recovery, and the work of building a life after disaster. Penton has vampires, psychics, human allies, and later shapeshifters, yet the heart of the series is its community. Start with Redemption. The individual romances have their own endings, but the political conflict and relationships between the residents develop book by book.
