Author bio
Patricia Bradley was born on January 29 in Memphis, Tennessee, and has spent most of her life in the northern Mississippi region she so often writes about. Her novels blend mystery, law enforcement, and a thread of faith, usually in small Southern towns where danger can hide behind familiar front porches.
Before she was known for romantic suspense, Bradley worked as an abstinence and healthy-relationships educator, speaking to students and parents about choices and boundaries. She co-founded Aiming for Healthy Families, Inc., and helped create an abstinence curriculum and workbook titled RISE To Your Dreams, work that sharpened her interest in how real people make hard decisions under pressure.
All the while, stories kept tugging at her. She began writing seriously around 1980, weathered decades of rejection slips, and finally saw her first novel, Shadows of the Past, published in 2014, proving to herself that persistence really could turn a long-held dream into a career.
That book launched the Logan Point series, set in a fictional Mississippi community not far from Memphis. Across titles like A Promise to Protect, Gone Without a Trace, Silence in the Dark, and On the Edge of Trust, she follows sheriffs, detectives, and everyday neighbors as they face kidnappings, missing persons, and drug rings that shatter the calm of their town.
Bradley soon turned her attention to Memphis itself in the Memphis Cold Case novels, where detectives and journalists reopen long-buried crimes tied to family secrets, Elvis Week, and the city’s landmark museum and music scene. In the Natchez Trace Park Rangers series she moves south along the Natchez Trace Parkway, pairing law-enforcement rangers and investigators with historians, interpreters, and locals as they chase killers through historic sites, deep woods, and river bluffs.
Her more recent Pearl River books, beginning with Counter Attack and continuing through Fatal Witness and Deadly Revenge, are set in and around the fictional town of Pearl Springs, Tennessee, and weave together small-town politics, K-9 handlers, and long-ago crimes that finally resurface. Alongside the suspense novels, she has also written gentle contemporary romances such as Matthew’s Choice, The Christmas Campaign, and her Christmas Town novella The Gingerbread Pony.
Over the years Bradley has received an Inspirational Reader’s Choice Award, a Selah Award, and a Daphne du Maurier Award, and she has been a finalist for the Carol Award. Several anthologies containing her shorter work have reached the USA Today bestseller list, a quiet confirmation that her stories connect with a wide range of readers.
She is equally committed to other writers. Bradley teaches at regional and national conferences, leads online courses on craft, and hosts a weekly Mystery Question on her blog, inviting readers to puzzle through short cases and think like investigators. For many newer writers, she is as much a coach and encourager as she is a fellow author.
Bradley now makes her home in Mississippi with her rescue cats, and when she is not plotting new twists she can often be found at a pottery wheel or making jewelry. Her books tend to offer exactly what she enjoys herself as a reader, fast-moving plots rooted in the South, characters carrying real emotional baggage, and a steady line of hope running through even the darkest investigations.
