Series background & context

Pacific Northwest K-9 Unit is a shared romantic-suspense series that pairs law-enforcement officers with highly trained dogs in the forests, mountains, waterways, and small communities of the Pacific Northwest.

The landscape can be beautiful. It can also make a pursuit much harder.

Jodie Bailey's contribution, Olympic Mountain Pursuit, is the fourth book in the sequence. Like the other installments, it places a K-9 partnership at the center of an urgent investigation, with the region's rugged terrain adding time pressure and limiting who can be trusted.

The series is built around officers who rely on their dogs for tracking, searching, and finding evidence that human investigators could easily miss. That practical teamwork keeps the stories moving. A dog may locate a trail, identify an object, or give a handler the few extra seconds needed to get someone out of danger.

The Pacific Northwest setting matters because it gives the cases room to breathe and places characters beyond easy help. Mountain roads, thick woods, unpredictable weather, and isolated properties turn even a short trip into a risk. When a suspect knows the terrain, the K-9 unit's training becomes vital.

There is also a romantic thread in each book. The people facing danger often have a past connection, a professional disagreement, or a reason to keep their feelings guarded. The emotional question is not separate from the mystery. Learning to trust another person can be as necessary as finding the next clue.

Readers who enjoy clean romantic suspense with working dogs, outdoor action, and a small-team feel will find a lot to like here. The individual stories are designed to stand alone, though reading the wider series in order gives more context for the unit and its continuing cases.
