Series background & context
This is one of Helen Scott's bigger-scale fantasy romance series. It opens with Tessa, a young woman who has spent her life seeing things other people don't, only to learn that the impossible is real and that four powerful strangers think she is the key to saving not just one world, but several.
From Elemental Awakened onward, the series runs on prophecy, portals, and pressure. Tessa is pulled into a conflict involving demons, dragons, ancient murals, hidden history, and the slow collapse of multiple realms that are starting to bleed into each other. The books keep widening the map, which is part of the appeal.
This one moves.
Each installment sends Tessa and her warriors into a different realm, including places tied to Atlantis, El Dorado, and other legendary landscapes. Those settings are not just decorative. They matter to the mythology, the magic, and the clues Tessa needs if she has any hope of understanding the prophecy wrapped around her life. The elemental system gives the series a strong fantasy spine even when the romance turns very hot.
At the center, though, it is still Tessa's story. She starts off overwhelmed and skeptical, then has to grow into someone who can carry enormous stakes without losing herself. The men around her are part protectors, part puzzle, and the why-choose dynamic builds alongside the larger plot instead of replacing it.
Read this series if you want a paranormal romance that feels closer to a multi-realm adventure. It has dragons, dangerous magic, and a heroine who keeps getting handed impossible odds and still has to keep going.
