Series background & context

Not You Again is Ali Parker's connected contemporary romance series about encounters that refuse to remain in the past. Different couples take the foreground as weddings, familiar social circles and unexpected reunions bring people back into one another's lives. The books use the awkwardness of meeting again to complicate what might otherwise have been a brief attraction or an experience easy to leave behind.

A wedding can start more than the marriage everyone came to celebrate.

The opening novel, Not You Again, introduces Payton and Karson through a family wedding. Payton's brother is Karson's best friend, giving the pair an existing connection before their own attraction develops. What happens between them isn't isolated from the people around them. A friend or sibling remains part of the social world even after the celebration is over, making a casual encounter harder to keep neatly separate from everyday life.

The series continues with You've Got to Be Kidding, shifting to another pair within the connected circle. Can't Make This Up and Two Wrongs Made Right follow, offering further variations on the idea that a moment at the wrong or unexpected time can become important later. The titles reflect the disbelief of finding that the person a character would prefer to dismiss has returned with a much larger role to play.

In Two Wrongs Made Right, Jude and McKinley meet as part of a wedding party. He is a self-made billionaire, while she is struggling with work she dislikes and raising a son. The romance brings different practical circumstances into the same orbit. A celebration makes the meeting possible, but the lives each must return to give the attraction demands beyond the occasion that introduced them.

The changing couples allow the series to explore fresh relationships while familiar faces continue around them. A reader can see how one person's happy event creates the circumstances for someone else's complication. The social connection matters because it keeps people from being complete strangers, yet doesn't guarantee that they understand each other's history or motives. Meeting again can offer clarification as readily as embarrassment.

Begin with Not You Again, then follow the listed publication order through You've Got to Be Kidding, Can't Make This Up, Two Wrongs Made Right and the later novels. The books offer separate central romances within a continuing circle, so they aren't numbered pieces of one couple's courtship. Expect adult contemporary romance with humour, family connections and second chances. The recurring appeal is the moment when a character discovers that an encounter they thought was finished may be the beginning of a much more lasting relationship.
