Series background & context

The Night series is one of Leah Brooke's clearest blends of paranormal romance and suspense, and unlike many of her other series, it follows the same core relationship across multiple books. At the center is Serena Abbott, a woman with psychic abilities that have made ordinary life almost impossible, and Ian and Alastair Wyndham, wealthy, dangerous men who live double lives as undercover agents and off-the-books enforcers.

That trio is the engine of the whole series.

In Night Rogues, Serena's visions and dreams make her a target as much as a gift. Meeting Ian and Alastair pulls her into a world of covert missions, criminal schemes, and moral gray areas. They know how to handle violent men. What they are not prepared for is a woman who sees too much and matters too much.

By Night Intrigue, Night Shadows, and Night Visions, the series becomes less about first attraction and more about how three people build trust while living under extraordinary pressure. Serena's abilities evolve, and that growth is not always comforting. Her visions become darker, more invasive, and more dangerous. The men can protect her from guns and kidnappers, but they cannot easily protect her from what happens inside her mind.

That is what gives the series its specific flavor. The suspense is not only external. It is psychological too. Serial killers, revenge attacks, undercover work, and violent enemies keep the plot moving, but the deeper question is whether Serena, Ian, and Alastair can keep a relationship intact when secrets, fear, and supernatural intimacy keep stripping them bare.

It gets dark in places.

Still, the overall tone stays romantic rather than bleak. Brooke is interested in how love can become a stabilizing force for someone who has spent years afraid of her own gift. Serena is not simply rescued. She slowly learns how to use what she can do, and the men around her have to learn that protecting her also means trusting her.

If you want one ongoing paranormal romantic suspense arc instead of a fresh couple every book, Night is the series to pick. It has psychic visions, undercover danger, a strong continuing relationship, and a sense that every book pushes the trio deeper into both love and risk.
