Newport City is a harsh cyberpunk dystopia built on class division. The future here has not become sleek or equal. After environmental catastrophe, habitable life has been squeezed into Newport City and the rough outer districts known as the banns, where survival is dirty, precarious, and closely watched.

The first book, Fleshers, centers on Dez, a naturally born human in a world where fleshers are pushed below the cloned elite known as pinkers. She lives with her brother Bo and their mother Bel, scraping by and trying not to draw the attention of OpSec, the city's security machine. Dez has one secret that makes that almost impossible: she is a living quantum computer, able to hack networks in ways no one around her fully understands.

That secret changes everything.

Once Dez discovers that the authorities are planning a mass extermination of fleshers, the series shifts from survival story to resistance story. Friends, lovers, cops, outcasts, and shadowy operators all become part of the fight. The books are interested in conspiracy and action, but also in the ugly mechanics of authoritarian rule, who gets counted as fully human, who gets disposable work, and who gets erased first when a system decides it is in danger.

As the story grows, the focus widens. Bo becomes more central, the strange power of the water takes on greater importance, and life inside Newport City looks different when seen from the orbit of soap star Erin Saba. That broader view helps the series move beyond one chase narrative. It starts asking harder questions about revolution, obsession, and what freedom might cost the people trying to win it.

What makes Newport City stand out is the mix of high-tech ideas and bruised, human feeling. This is science fiction with hacking, surveillance, engineered elites, and looming catastrophe, but it is also full of family loyalties, jealousy, fear, and stubborn hope. The tone is gritty and fast-moving, though it leaves room for mystery and the uncanny.
