Series background & context

Naughty Shorts is Sarah Castille at her most intimate. These novellas are set in a fictional small town in Montana and focus on couples who already have history, shared routines, and a lot to lose.

That matters, because the tension here is not about two strangers meeting cute. It is about marriages and long relationships that have drifted, cracked, or gone quiet. The books ask what happens after the big romantic moment, when real life, grief, insecurity, boredom, and private fantasies start pressing on the walls.

Each story takes a different route into that question. Naughty Desires looks at a couple pulled apart by secrecy and self-doubt. Naughty Wishes turns a birthday surprise into a risky experiment in trust. Naughty Secrets goes even deeper, following a husband and wife still living inside the long shadow of loss.

Small-town life gives the series a warm but slightly nosy backdrop. People know each other. Old friends cross paths at bars, on farms, and in everyday places where there is no easy way to avoid a hard conversation. That closeness makes every misunderstanding feel more personal, but it also means the characters are surrounded by a community that remembers who they were before things got complicated.

These are quick reads, but they are not lightweight.

The tone is very steamy, but the emotional stakes stay front and center. Castille keeps the focus on adult relationships, on what people are afraid to say out loud, and on the ways desire can be tangled up with shame, regret, and hope. Even when the books get playful, there is usually something tender underneath.

If you like romance about established couples, second chances inside a marriage, and characters trying to find each other again instead of starting from scratch, this is the appeal of the series. The stories are short, direct, and high on heat, but they also make room for hurt feelings, awkward honesty, and the relief that comes when two people finally stop pretending everything is fine.
