In The Naughty List, Bobbie's attempt to help her younger brother Tad goes badly enough to pull her straight into North Pole business. She runs into elves, reindeer, Santa, and the machinery behind the famous list, but none of it is polished or sentimental. The series likes a messy version of holiday fantasy, full of strange rules, gross jokes, accidental disasters, and magical creatures that are often as ridiculous as they are useful.

That offbeat world is a big part of the appeal. Fry turns the North Pole into a place that is busy, chaotic, a little dysfunctional, and surprisingly funny. The cartoons add to that feeling, turning Bobbie's panic, irritation, and stubborn courage into something quick and visual. The comedy can get loud and silly, but Bobbie's voice keeps it grounded.

The second book, Bobbie Mendoza Saves the World, widens the story beyond one Christmas crisis. Bobbie starts at a new school wanting desperately to seem normal, which is hard when you have already had a run-in with trans-dimensional weirdness. Old allies come back, new friend Cole gets pulled in, and suddenly Bobbie is dealing with portals, unicorns, and another round of magical chaos she never asked for.

Normal is not really an option.

What links the books is Bobbie herself. She is prickly, embarrassed, brave, and often very funny when she is trying not to care. The real tension is not just whether she can stop some magical catastrophe. It is whether she can handle being the kid who stands out, says the wrong thing, and still does the right thing when it counts.

So if you want a cozy Christmas series, this is probably not it. If you want holiday fantasy with attitude, frantic energy, cartoon illustrations, and a lead who learns that weirdness can be a strength, it is an easy one to click with.
