The Millennial series blends alternate history, vampire fiction, and the danger of World War II. Its central idea is simple but unsettling: ancient vampires have spent centuries staying apart from human politics, until the rise of Nazism makes distance impossible.

The title refers to vampires who have lived for more than a thousand years. They are powerful, experienced, and deeply tied to the eras they have survived, but they are not free of fear, ambition, love, or old grudges. The series uses their long memories to move between wartime crises and the histories that shaped them.

In The Midnight Guardian, London's vampire tribunal sends five of its strongest members to Berlin to interfere with the Nazi war machine. Brigit, an ancient vampire with unusual strength, becomes the heart of the story. She must leave Eamon, the lover with whom she shares a powerful bond, while she and the other millennials face enemy agents and trained vampire hunters. The book gives the mission an espionage feel, but its real tension comes from watching creatures who have usually looked after themselves confront human cruelty on a scale they cannot ignore.

The Moonlight Brigade follows Mors, the mission's leader, after one of his allies disappears. His search draws him from Berlin to Rome, a city connected to his life before vampirism, when he was a general of the Roman Republic. Seeing Italy under Fascism pushes Mors toward a new goal: helping to restore the kind of republic he once served. To do that, he has to work with human partisans, including their organizer, Giulia.

The stakes stay close to the ground even as the characters carry centuries of baggage. Missions fail, alliances are uneasy, and love can become another vulnerability. Brigit and Mors each bring a different perspective to the war, while the series keeps returning to questions of power, prejudice, duty, and what it costs to act when staying neutral is no longer possible.
