Even when Michaela is dealing with classic detective questions, who lied, who profited, who killed, Lucci often folds in healthcare, bodies, institutions, or the aftermath of bad professional decisions. The result is a series that sits somewhere between private-eye fiction, police procedural, and character-driven suspense.
