Ezra's Forgetful Bride
by Christine Sterling
2021
After an accident leaves Kathleen O'Byrne struggling with memory, a matchmaker sends her to the exact wrong man. Ezra Simmons wants order and perfection, but his mistaken bride may be the one person who can change his rigid world.
Series background & context
The fun of Matchmaker's Mix-Up is right there in the title. These stories begin when a matchmaker gets it wrong, or at least appears to. The couple brought together is not what either person expected, and usually not what either asked for.
That mismatch creates room for humor, but the series works because the books do not stop at the joke. Christine Sterling's Ezra's Forgetful Bride is a good example. One character needs patience. The other needs order. What looks like a disaster at first slowly becomes the exact challenge both of them need.
The wider series leans into opposites attract, mistaken pairings, and the surprise of discovering that a practical arrangement can still grow into love. These are short historical romances, so they move quickly, but the best entries still make space for tenderness and character growth.
If you like a little comedy with your marriage-of-convenience setup, this is an easy series to enjoy. The pleasure comes from watching two people resist the match, suffer through it, and then realize the mistake may have been the best thing that could have happened to them.
