Series background & context

Susan Mallery's Marcelli romances follow a California wine-country family whose affection and interference often arrive together. The family's winery gives the novels a shared workplace and a reason for arguments over inheritance, ambition, and who is allowed to take charge. Grandparents, sisters, and other relatives remain close enough to influence each couple, making a new romance part of a much larger conversation about loyalty and independence.

The Sparkling One introduces Katie Marcelli, a party planner whose younger sister Mia is engaged to Zach Stryker's son. Zach objects to the young couple's wedding plans, while his connection with Katie brings a different attraction into the situation. Katie's business and the family's expectations put her between professional opportunities, sisterly loyalty, and a man who does not initially want the same outcome she does.

The Sassy One centers on Francesca, who married young and is now rebuilding her life while studying psychology. Her relationship with Sam Reese begins as an opportunity to explore a less conventional arrangement, but feelings and hidden history complicate its supposedly simple terms. Her story shares the family's lively surroundings while giving a different sister the chance to question what she wants after disappointment.

Brenna's ambitions drive The Seductive One. She wants to run the winery, despite a grandfather who does not readily see that future for a woman, and turns to rival winemaker Nic Giovanni when she needs money. Their families' rivalry and their own past attraction make the business arrangement risky, because accepting help from Nic also means confronting a relationship she has not put behind her.

The winery holds the family together without settling its disagreements.

In The Marcelli Bride, Joe Marcelli's military background and return to the family overlap with Darcy Jensen's need for protection after a kidnapping attempt. The Marcelli Princess follows Mia and her young son when the man she believed dead returns with an unexpected royal identity. Those later romances add security threats and royal obligations to the family world, but still ask what happens when a partner's duties do not fit the future the other person imagined.

Read the five original novels from The Sparkling One through The Marcelli Princess to follow the family as different members take center stage. A Marcelli Wedding collects The Marcelli Bride and The Marcelli Princess, so it is an omnibus rather than another separate romance after them. The overall tone is contemporary romance with humor, family pressure, and occasional suspense, suited to readers who enjoy connected couples and a family whose opinions are impossible to avoid.
