Love on Thin Ice is another visit to Maple Falls, but this series is shaped around a shorter, sweeter hockey-romance format. The books are tied to a charity hockey event and the local rink, so the whole thing has a crisp seasonal feel, with cabins, community fundraisers, and people getting thrown together before they have time to argue themselves out of it.

Cold weather, warm town.

Whitney Dineen kicks things off with Breaking the Ice, pairing Ellie, an ice-skating coach trying to hold her life together, with Zach, a billionaire who comes to town under bad press and immediately lands in forced proximity. That is a good snapshot of the series as a whole. The heroes are often connected to hockey or the charity event, the heroines are grounded in town life, and the romance grows out of being stuck in each other's orbit.

The tone is cozy and clean, with plenty of banter and very little darkness. These are not books built around high angst or heavy spice. They are built around comfort: a charming town, neighbors who show up, and leads who have enough chemistry to make the happy ending feel earned. Maple Falls does a lot of the work by giving the stories a shared sense of place.
