Series background & context
The Love At First Sight books are set in Green Valley, Tennessee, and they lean hard into one very good romance question: what if your family had a long-running legend that said you were doomed, or blessed, to fall hard and fast?
In this series, that idea follows the Buchanan family everywhere. Some characters believe in it. Some roll their eyes at it. Most of them would prefer not to test it quite so directly. But Karla Sorensen uses that family story as more than a cute hook. It gives the books a sense of history, and it makes every romance feel tied to something bigger than one couple's bad timing or good chemistry.
The four books, Baking Me Crazy, Batter of Wits, Steal My Magnolia, and Worth the Wait, each focus on a different love story in the Buchanan orbit. Some are lighter and full of verbal sparring. Others carry more ache, especially when past hurts or complicated family ties get in the way. Across the series, friends become something more, stubborn locals clash with equally stubborn love interests, and characters who think they know exactly how their life should go get pleasantly wrecked by reality.
The Buchanans are the glue.
That matters because these books are not just about the central couple in each installment. They are about siblings, family loyalties, small-town memories, and the way everybody seems to know everybody's business five minutes before the people involved are ready to admit anything themselves. Green Valley feels lived in, and the town gives the romances a warm, nosy, affectionate kind of pressure.
There is a nice range inside the series too. Sorensen brings in best-friends tension, workplace friction, second chances, and characters who have to decide whether love is worth disrupting the life they've carefully built. The official series notes also point to disability representation and interracial romance, which adds to the sense that this world is broader than one small-town formula.
If you like family-centered romance with charm, humor, and a little emotional bite, this is a very easy series to settle into. Each book works on its own, but reading in order lets the Buchanan family story build the way it should, slowly, warmly, and with plenty of interference from the people who love each other most.
