Where should I start?

If you want sharp billionaire romance: King of Wall Street -> Duke of Manhattan -> The Earl of London
If you want London-set rom-com energy: Mr. Mayfair -> Mr. Knightsbridge -> Mr. Smithfield
If you want a connected novella arc: A Week in New York -> Autumn in London -> New Year in Manhattan
If you want newer small-town romance: Love Fast -> Love Deep -> Love Hard

Author bio

Louise Bay is a British romance novelist based in London, and that city runs right through her work. She writes contemporary love stories that are funny, sexy, and fast on the page, often moving between London streets, Manhattan offices, country estates, and the occasional very inconvenient luxury escape.

One of the clearest things about Bay is that she writes the kind of books she likes to read. She has said she was shaped by the glossy popular fiction of the 1980s, especially writers like Judith Krantz and Jackie Collins. You can feel that influence in the big jobs, expensive hotels, titled families, and powerful men, but Bay gives it a modern romantic-comedy lift.

She began publishing in 2014 with Faithful and A Week in New York. That early start matters, because you can already see the themes she would keep returning to later: sharp chemistry, emotional risk, and characters trying to work out whether ambition, independence, and love can all fit into the same life.

A lot of her heroes wear suits.

Bay's best-known books include King of Wall Street, Duke of Manhattan, Mr. Mayfair, The Earl of London, and An American in London. Readers often come to her for billionaire romance, fake relationships, workplace sparks, or the simple promise of a polished British hero. What tends to keep them reading is the emotional payoff. Even when the setup is pure fantasy, the feelings underneath are usually about trust, timing, pride, and the scary business of letting someone really know you.

She likes a good fake relationship almost as much as her readers do.

Her books often pair British and American leads, and she clearly enjoys the push and pull between London cool and New York speed. Some series lean into glamour and old money. Others, like her newer Colorado books, trade city polish for porches, cabins, and small-town complication. Across all of them, Bay writes people who look capable from the outside and are quietly scrambling underneath.

The structure of her backlist makes her easy to read, too. Many of her series are linked standalones, so readers can jump into The Mister books, The Royals, or The Doctors without needing a giant commitment. When she does go fully connected, as in The Empire State Trilogy, the result is tighter and more intimate, with one couple carrying the emotional arc across multiple books.

Off the page, Bay shares just enough to give readers a sense of her voice. She lives in London and has described it as a city she is in a lifelong love affair with. She has also said she loves rain, days when she does not have to wear makeup, spending time with her kid, elephants, and champagne. That mix of glamour and not taking herself too seriously feels very on brand.

After dozens of books and several bestselling runs, Bay still seems most interested in the same thing she started with: giving readers smart, escapist contemporary romance with strong banter, strong attraction, and a happy ending that feels earned.
