Series background & context
Lost Minecraft Journals is a three-book Minecraft adventure built around a simple hook: a lost book may lead to a missing explorer. Harriet, Jack, and Toby are treasure hunters, and they are used to searching the Minecraft world for rare items and hidden places. Then they find a journal in an abandoned mineshaft.
It does not look safe.
The journal once belonged to William the Explorer, a famous figure in the Minecraft world who has vanished under suspicious circumstances. The warning on the book tells them not to open it, which of course makes it almost impossible to resist. Once they start reading, the journal becomes both a clue and a guide. It points them toward danger, treasure, and maybe William himself.
The series has a fun structure. The chapters move between William’s journal entries and the present-day journey of Harriet, Jack, and Toby. That gives the books two threads at once. Readers follow the treasure hunters as they use the journals, while also getting pieces of William’s own story.
The settings expand with each book. Discoveries in the Overworld starts the mystery with the first journal and the promise of hidden strongholds. An Explorer's Guide to the Nether sends the trio through a portal into a dangerous biome, with rival treasure hunters Valentino and Veronica close behind. Lost in the End raises the stakes again as the search moves through oceans, mountains, and finally toward the End.
This is one of Morgan’s cleaner adventure arcs because it is a true trilogy. The goal is not just to survive a mob attack or stop a griefer for one book. The big question keeps pulling the story forward: what happened to William?
Readers who like maps, clues, old journals, and expedition stories should start with Discoveries in the Overworld. The later books depend on the mystery already being in motion, so this is one series where reading in order really helps.
