Lost Lords of London Books in Order

Lost Lords of London is one of Caldwell's most mystery-driven series. The three books circle around missing heirs, stolen identities, ruined childhoods, and the damage done when powerful people treat children as assets instead of human beings. That ongoing mystery gives the series a stronger suspense spine than many of her other Regency lines.

The premise is simple and sinister.

Young lords and ladies disappeared. Some were hidden. Some were raised far from the lives meant for them. Years later, the truth begins to surface, and every revelation upsets both family history and romantic expectation. In Bed with the Earl, In the Dark with the Duke, and Undressed with the Marquess each tackle a different piece of that puzzle.

The heroines are especially lively here. Verity Lovelace's reporter instincts set the tone in the opening book, and the series keeps that feeling of women actively investigating, questioning, and refusing to sit quietly while men decide their futures. The heroes, by contrast, are often men who have been deprived of certainty, status, or memory. They are trying to work out who they are at the same time they are falling in love.

That makes the books feel adventurous without losing Caldwell's emotional core.
