A return home stirs up old desire and older complications in this western-flavored contemporary romance. Cowboys, history, and a heroine trying not to fall back into the past make the reunion hard to resist.

Series background & context
Lonesome Cowboys gives Anne Marsh a western lane to play in, and that changes the feel right away. Instead of motorcycles, rescue swimmers, or wolf packs, the emotional pull comes from cowboy imagery, open space, and the lonely, homegrown tension that fits a ranch-country romance.
There is dust on these feelings.
The series begins with Stripped Down, and the title alone tells you this is not a sentimental, old-fashioned western. Marsh is still writing hot contemporary romance. What changes is the texture around it. Cowboys carry their own kind of myth in romance, and Marsh uses that well. A cowboy hero can look self-contained, practical, and impossible to read, which makes him a very good match for a story about old attraction, homecoming, and all the trouble that starts when somebody returns to a place they thought they had outgrown.
Because this line starts from a single book in the current data, it feels more intimate than sprawling. The focus is not world-building in the paranormal sense. It is emotional geography. Who stayed, who left, who remembers what happened before, and who still wants something neither person is ready to say out loud. That is classic small-scale romance material, and Marsh tends to do well in that space.
If you want her voice in a western-flavored setting, with sexiness, stubborn people, and a strong sense that the past is very much not finished with anybody, Lonesome Cowboys is the shelf to browse. It promises cowboy heat with a modern edge, which is a pretty good combination.
