Series background & context
Lessons in Cruelty Dark Academia is Logan Fox doing a newer, nastier version of the school-and-power-game setup she already writes well. This trilogy trades elite prep glamour for Agony Hollow College, a place that sounds bleak and earns the name. The mood is dark academia, but the real hook is the triangle of damage at the center.
The heroine is Haven Lee. She comes back to Agony Hollow on scholarship hoping to repair a life that never had much room for error in the first place. Instead, she walks straight into two men who want very different things from her and are both dangerous enough to ruin her. One is Kai Jordan, the childhood friend turned enemy who now treats her like a target. The other is Professor Bastian Rooke, who is older, colder, and far more manipulative.
Broken by My Bully sets that war up beautifully. Fox gives Haven history with Kai, a class gap that still matters, and a professor who immediately starts arranging the world around her. Stalked by my Professor deepens the trap by showing how thoroughly Bastian wants control, while Kai keeps colliding with Haven through resentment and hunger. Punished by my Enemy brings the trilogy to its ugliest and most revealing stage, when secrets come out and Haven stops behaving like anyone's prey.
This series is all about control.
What makes it dark academia is not just the school setting. It is the atmosphere of hierarchy, privilege, ritualized humiliation, and intellect used like a weapon. Agony Hollow feels cold, expensive, and unfair. Bastian weaponizes that unfairness. Kai weaponizes history. Haven has to learn how to weaponize herself.
If you want one of Fox's most tightly focused continuing series, this is a good pick. It is a true trilogy with cliffhangers, not a set of loose companions. Read it for the push between bully romance and professor romance, the way the town and school bleed into each other, and the heroine's gradual shift from survivor to active threat. This page is the clean reading-order stop for that whole ugly, addictive spiral.
