King Of Ys Books in Order

Roman envoy Gratillonius defeats the tyrant of Ys and unexpectedly inherits its throne and nine royal wives. Governing a kingdom with unfamiliar gods and customs proves difficult as the Roman Empire's weakening power threatens his new country's survival.

Gratillonius adjusts to ruling Ys as Rome's hold over its territories weakens. Political dangers, competing religions, and obligations to his nine witch-queen wives challenge his efforts to protect a kingdom whose gods demand continued obedience.

Gratillonius has restored stability to Ys, but Rome wants a more compliant ruler and an Irish king seeks revenge. When the gods select Gratillonius's daughter Dahut as a royal wife, danger also emerges within his own household.

After Ys falls, Gratillonius leads the survivors in an attempt to rebuild their city. With King Niall still determined to destroy them and Europe entering the Dark Ages, shelter and survival depend on holding their fragile community together.
