Author bio
Kieran Kramer was born in Washington, D.C., to an Air Force pilot father and an actress and singer mother, but the place that seems to have shaped her most is Johns Island, near Charleston, South Carolina. She has written about growing up in the Lowcountry and even helping build her family's log home there. That deep sense of place helps explain why so many of her books, whether historical or contemporary, feel lived in from the ground up.
That Lowcountry pull never really left her.
Before fiction became her main lane, Kramer worked a string of jobs that do not usually sit side by side in an author bio. She has worked for the CIA, written journalism for The Charlotte Observer, and taught English. Those different worlds, government offices, newsrooms, classrooms, and family life, seem to feed the mix of pace, humor, and emotional tension that runs through her novels.
Her early breakout in romance came with When Harry Met Molly, the first book in the Impossible Bachelors series. That novel turned a high-spirited Regency wager into an enemies-to-lovers story full of friction and charm, and it also brought her early awards attention. Readers who start there usually stay for the banter, the stubborn heroines, and the way Kramer lets a playful setup open into something more heartfelt.
She kept building on that side of her work with books like Dukes to the Left of Me, Princes to the Right, Cloudy With A Chance Of Marriage, and If You Give A Girl A Viscount. These historical romances are light on their feet, but they are not empty calories. Again and again, Kramer writes people who are bluffing, recovering, or trying to outrun old mistakes, only to find that love is waiting in exactly the place they did not plan to look.
Then she changed lanes.
With Sweet Talk Me, You're So Fine, and Trouble When You Walked In, Kramer moved into contemporary romance and brought her stories back to the modern South. Ballrooms gave way to small towns, lighthouses, libraries, movie sets, and local politics. The appeal stayed much the same, though: sharp dialogue, big feelings, and characters who need to rethink the stories they have been telling themselves. Her later Two Love Lane novels, including Christmas at Two Love Lane and A Wedding at Two Love Lane, lean even further into Charleston charm, matchmaking, and second chances.
Across both her historical and contemporary books, a few things keep showing up. She likes social comedy. She likes families with long memories, friends who meddle, and heroines who are smarter and tougher than the people around them first assume. Even when a book starts breezy, there is usually something more tender underneath, a past betrayal, a lost chance, or a fear of not being chosen.
Kramer has also shared a few personal details that fit that lively energy. She has described herself as a game show veteran and karaoke enthusiast, and she once won money on Wheel of Fortune. She lives in the Lowcountry of South Carolina with her family, close to the landscape that has fed so much of her fiction.
