Author bio

Julie Anne Lindsey grew up between northeastern Ohio and West Virginia, and that mix of small-town warmth and close observation shows up all through her books. She was born in Ohio, spent much of her childhood in West Virginia, and later earned a psychology degree from Kent State University.

Before writing took over, she imagined a very different future. She has said she once planned to continue into counseling work and hoped to speak to teen girls and women, which makes sense when you look at how often her stories circle back to resilience, second chances, and people trying to rebuild their lives.

Writing came later, and fast.

After her third child was born, Lindsey read Twilight and heard Stephenie Meyer talk about being a stay-at-home mom who simply had an idea and wrote it down. That gave Lindsey the nudge she needed. She started writing in 2010, sold work soon after, and built a career with unusual range, moving from sweet romance and young adult suspense into cozy mysteries and romantic suspense.

Her earlier books include small-town romances connected to Honey Creek, like Written on Her Heart, Seeds of Love, and A Beautiful Pointe. Even then, she seemed drawn to characters carrying private hurts and trying to find their footing again. Later she leaned harder into mystery with series like A Geek Girl's Guide to Murder, the Patience Price books, and the Cider Shop Mysteries, including Apple Cider Slaying.

She also writes under several pen names, and each one has its own flavor. As Bree Baker she wrote the beachy Seaside Café Mysteries, starting with Live and Let Chai. As Jacqueline Frost she wrote the Christmas Tree Farm books, beginning with Twelve Slays of Christmas. As Julie Chase she wrote the New Orleans-set Kitty Couture mysteries, which start with Cat Got Your Diamonds.

That range is a big part of why readers stick with her. Some come for the cozy settings, the tea shop, the orchard, the Christmas tree farm, the pet boutique. Others come for the faster Harlequin suspense novels, where deputies, agents, witnesses, and old flames all seem to be running from danger at top speed. Across both sides of her work, she tends to write capable women, lively supporting casts, and communities that feel lived in.

She has picked up major recognition too, including the Daphne du Maurier Award for Mystery and Suspense in 2019 and the National Readers' Choice Award for Romance Adventure in 2020.

Today Lindsey lives in Kent, Ohio, and has said that when she isn't writing she is usually busy with family life, books, and the friends who happily help her plot fictional murder. She has published more than sixty novels, which means there is plenty to explore, whether you want a funny small-town cozy, a holiday mystery, or a straight shot of romantic suspense.
