Series background & context

The Jinx series is Sandra Hill’s treasure-hunting romantic comedy trilogy, and it spins out of the larger Cajun world. The bridge is Tante Lulu, who brings her matchmaking instincts into the orbit of Jinx Inc., a treasure-hunting company that attracts exes, adventurers, divers, Navy SEALs, reporters, and people with more emotional baggage than equipment.

The first book, Pink Jinx, introduces Veronica Jinkowsky, a straitlaced Boston lawyer, and Jake Jensen, the professional poker player she has married and divorced more than once. When Ronnie is pulled into her grandfather’s treasure-hunting business and a search for pink diamonds, she and Jake are trapped together with old feelings, high-seas chaos, and a crew that is anything but calm.

The treasure is never just the treasure.

Pearl Jinx moves the hunt to rumored cave pearls, with ex-Navy SEAL Caleb Peach leading a mission that requires the help of archaeologist Claire Cassidy. Their story adds caves, family wounds, and Caleb’s complicated Amish past. As usual, Tante Lulu is nearby, nudging hearts while everyone else pretends not to notice.

Wild Jinx brings the action back toward Louisiana, where police detective John LeDeux and reporter Celine Arseneaux collide during an undercover case involving a Baton Rouge club. Their history is messy, their chemistry is worse, and a pirate treasure hunt in the bayou gives them just enough isolation for secrets to surface.

The Jinx books are best read in order because the company, crew, and running jokes carry across the trilogy. They also reward Cajun readers, since familiar LeDeux faces appear. Expect adventure, comedy, second chances, and Tante Lulu treating romance as the most important treasure map of all.
