Jason King: Agent to the Stars Books in Order

Jason King: Agent to the Stars is Harris in a slightly different register. The books are still space opera, but instead of leading with a galaxy-famous super-fighter, they follow Jason King, a former Army Ranger who is now making a living as a real estate broker on Sylox, the capital of the Galactic Union.

That job tells you a lot about the tone. Jason is not supposed to be the galaxy's chosen warrior. He is the guy helping Humans find decent housing near the embassy complex in the Enclaves of Sylox. Then old friends, stolen artifacts, political conspiracies, and bad timing keep dragging him back into action.

He is heroic mostly by inconvenience.

In The Enclaves of Sylox, Jason gets tangled in the theft of a quasi-religious artifact that could trigger galactic war and put Earth in danger. In the next adventure, the legendary Galactic Lights pull him into another high-stakes chase, with world-destroying power, old loyalties, and a lot riding on whether he can finish the job.

The Sylox setting helps the series stand out. This is a busy alien capital where diplomacy, business, and opportunism all share the same streets. Jason knows how to move through it because he lives there as a working guy, not a grand admiral. That gives the books a nice mix of everyday detail and sudden danger.

If you want T.R. Harris space opera with less galaxy-conquering swagger and more reluctant-man-in-the-middle energy, Jason King is the lane to try. The books keep the banter, chases, and action, but the hero comes at problems from a more sideways angle. He is competent, a little cynical, and forever one bad client meeting away from another firefight.
