Janitors School of Garbage Books in Order

Janitors School of Garbage is a follow-up to Janitors, but it comes in with new leads and its own mess to clean up. Landon Murphy gets dragged into the hidden janitorial world when his soon-to-be stepsister, Jade Shu, shows him a portal at the bottom of a dumpster. On the other side is a magical landfill and the School of Garbage, a summer school for young garbologists.

That premise tells you a lot about the tone. This series likes gross things, magical things, and the overlap between them. The kids train with flying brooms, gravity-bending plungers, and mops that can capture just about anything. They study garbology almost like detectives, learning to read clues in trash and track dangerous magical creatures. They also bond with Servites, small enchanted animals that help them focus, create, or stay energized.

It is gross on purpose, and that is part of the charm.

Landon works well as the main point of view because he starts out feeling like he does not quite belong anywhere. His family life is shifting, Jade already knows the rules of this strange world, and the magical school is both exciting and intimidating. That gives the series more than one kind of tension. Yes, there are animated garbage monsters and weird battles in a landfill, but there is also a quieter story about fitting into a changing family and learning how to trust new people.

The threats here are bigger than a few bad smells. The first book throws Landon and Jade against junklets, a huge trash monster called the Megalajunk, and attacks spreading through elementary schools. Trials of Trash deepens the mystery with rogue Thingamajunks, ruined weddings and concerts, and the shadow of the Locksmith, while Landon deals with a dangerous transformation of his own. War of the Wasteland pushes everything toward open conflict, bringing back familiar faces like Daisy Gates and Spencer Zumbro as the heroes try to stop a full Trashpocalypse.

So while this series shares a lot of DNA with the original Janitors books, it has its own personality. The landfill mythology gets bigger, the setting is wilder, and the stepsibling dynamic between Landon and Jade gives the story a fresh center. You still get action, weird tools, and villainous grime, but you also get a story about belonging, teamwork, and kids learning how to be brave in a place that smells awful.

Start with Janitors School of Garbage and continue in order, because the mysteries and alliances keep building. It works as a newer entry point into the larger world, but it is even richer if you already know where all that magical trash started.
