Author bio
Jamie Brenner writes contemporary novels that blend sunny settings with complicated families, secret histories, and women at turning points in their lives. She grew up outside Philadelphia, where books were as much a part of daily life as homework or sports.
As a kid she spent Saturdays at local diners and bookstores with her father, who always said he would buy her a book even when money was tight. Those weekly trips, and an early diet of Judy Blume, Jackie Collins, and Judith Krantz, convinced her that stories could open doors far beyond the suburbs.
Brenner studied literature at George Washington University, following advice to learn the craft of reading and writing before chasing a byline. After college she moved to New York City and spent years inside the industry at major publishers, online booksellers, and a literary agency, watching manuscripts take shape from messy first drafts to finished novels. That behind the scenes work became her real world MFA.
Eventually she decided to try writing her own. Under the pen name Logan Belle she published erotic romances, including the burlesque themed Blue Angel trilogy, Miss Chatterley, and Bettie Page Presents: The Librarian. She also wrote The Gin Lovers, a Jazz Age serial about a Fifth Avenue socialite whose life is upended by bootleg gin and forbidden love.
Writing those early books showed her how much she loved glamorous settings, bold heroines, and the way desire can collide with expectations. It also gave her the confidence to shift into what she now calls beach reads with a twist, novels that feel escapist on the surface but dig into family, faith, and identity.
Her breakout mainstream novel, The Wedding Sisters, follows three very different sisters barreling toward a triple wedding in New York. Not long after came The Forever Summer, set in Provincetown on Cape Cod, where a DNA test pulls together several generations of women who must renegotiate what family means. Those two books set the stage for later stories like The Husband Hour, Drawing Home, Summer Longing, Blush, Gilt, A Novel Summer, and The Weekend Crashers, each anchored in a vivid place with women facing big life choices.
Across her work Brenner returns to a few obsessions: mothers and daughters who do not always understand each other, sisters who love one another but compete, and the way long kept secrets can blow apart or strengthen a family. She is especially drawn to coastal towns, from the Jersey Shore to Long Island’s North Fork to Provincetown, where a summer season can concentrate years of change into a few stormy months.
Readers often come for the sun, surf, and vineyards, but they stay for Brenner’s interest in grief, ambition, complicated marriages, and women reinventing themselves in midlife. Her novels are comfortable handing characters second chances, yet they rarely shy away from the cost of those fresh starts.
She likes to say that a good beach read should feel like a getaway while you are turning the pages and like a conversation with an old friend once you are done.
After years of raising two daughters in New York City, Brenner now makes her home in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, while still spending significant time in Philadelphia and traveling to the beach towns that fuel her fiction, especially Provincetown and other corners of Cape Cod.
She lives with her husband and family, writes most days, and still loves nothing more than wandering into an independent bookstore and imagining the next story a reader might discover there.
Pick up one of her books and you can expect a generous mix of warmth, drama, and the sense that even in the messiest families, a new chapter is always possible.
