A missing cannabis dealer’s case takes Manchester detective Rick Castle to Nepal, where mountain trails lead to multiple bodies. As the investigation stretches across continents, Castle must confront the danger and moral consequences of putting himself in the firing line.

Defying procedure, Rick Castle takes a prisoner from Manchester to Nepal to help pursue a dangerous enemy. When the prisoner escapes, Castle’s small team must search the Everest foothills before the investigation and his own position collapse.

A prisoner’s escape and a clandestine delivery in Manchester may be connected to the city’s migration crisis. Recently demoted detective Rick Castle investigates, racing to find two wanted suspects before their collision makes an already dangerous case worse.

Rick Castle’s new investigative role begins with a school minibus’s burst tyre, but the apparently routine case points toward a Russian cell. When drugs are found in his car, arrest threatens his pursuit of both current suspects and an old murder.
