Jake Paynter Books in Order

Facing execution for killing his commanding officer after refusing a brutal order, Jake Paynter travels toward trial with a wagon train. An attack offers escape, but growing friendships draw him into protecting the travelers and confronting the past he hoped to avoid.

With a bounty drawing pursuers from across the West, Jake Paynter hopes to disappear. Reports of mysterious killings among miners instead bring him to South Pass City, where protecting friends means investigating by night while enemies move closer.

As marshal of South Pass City, Jake Paynter confronts an outlaw gang and a wealthy adversary who may be helping it. When captives are taken into the Wyoming wilderness, he must pursue the criminals with dwindling allies and little room for error.
