That makes Jack a fitting guide, because he is almost always half acting and half panicking, never entirely sure whether charm will save him or get him hanged. The world is lively, grubby, and a little dangerous in every direction.

That wobble between panic and performance is the series hook.

You can expect historical mystery with a comic edge, a slightly bawdy sense of fun, and a hero who is clever mainly when backed into a corner.
