The Iron Widow series is a giant-robot war story set inside a society shaped by gender rules, military status, and state power. It begins with Iron Widow and continues in Heavenly Tyrant. The setting is Huaxia, a future shaped by elements of Chinese history. Mechanical alien enemies wait beyond the Great Wall, and Huaxia's defense depends on Chrysalises, huge transforming machines piloted by linked male and female pairs. At the center is eighteen-year-old Wu Zetian. After her sister dies, Zetian becomes a concubine-pilot with one clear goal: revenge. Her personal anger quickly brings her into conflict with the rules that govern all of Huaxia.

In Heavenly Tyrant, the focus widens from one young woman's survival to the problem of wielding power. Zetian must navigate enemies, old elites, hostage threats, and a revolution that may not stay under anyone's control. The stakes remain personal, but the series also asks what liberation looks like when justice, fear, and violence begin pulling in different directions.

This is a future informed by Chinese history rather than a strict historical recreation, with familiar figures reshaped for a science-fiction setting.
