Series background & context

The Infinity Chronicles books are some of Albany Walker's clearest page-turners. The setup is simple in the best way: Laura has spent her life moving from place to place with a mother who keeps secrets and follows rigid rules. No friends. No drawing attention. No boys. When the series begins, Laura is used to being careful, even if she has no real idea what they are running from.

That changes fast. A new town brings a group of boys who seem to know more about Laura than she knows about herself, and the story quickly shifts from ordinary teen unease into hidden powers, buried family history, and a paranormal community Laura never knew existed. The heart of the series is the bond at the center of the title. As Laura learns what it means to be part of an Infinity, the romance grows right alongside the world-building.

Every answer opens a bigger door.

That is why these books are best read one after the other. Infinity Chronicles: Book One is all discovery and suspicion. Book two expands the emotional stakes by deepening the bond and pushing Laura closer to the truth about her abilities and her missing mother. Book three raises the pressure again by tying the danger more directly to Laura's parentage and the power struggle around her. By book four, the series has moved from running and reacting to hunting the threat back.

The tone is very much paranormal why choose romance, but the ongoing mystery is what gives the books momentum. Laura's relationships matter, and Walker gives them room to develop, yet there is always another thread pulling forward: who has been lying, who is protecting what, and what kind of future Laura is actually being prepared for. The romance is slow enough to build anticipation, while the plot keeps something moving in the background at nearly all times.

If you like protective heroes, hidden magical systems, chosen-bond stories, and a heroine who grows into her power across multiple books, this series does that well. There is also an MMFM element to the relationship structure, so the group dynamic is part of the appeal rather than a side note. Walker keeps the focus on Laura's point of view and her changing understanding of herself, which helps the bigger supernatural pieces stay accessible.

Read the quartet in order and expect a series that gets larger with each installment. It starts with a girl trying not to be noticed. It ends with someone who finally understands why staying hidden was never going to last.
