Imagine Nation is a graphic novel series set in the same wide fantasy world as the Jack Blank adventures. The series opens with The Blood of Kings. Its main character is Skerren, a young swordsman from Varagog Village, a medieval borough within the Imagine Nation. After failing to save his parents, Skerren has made himself into a fierce defender of his home. He never wants to feel that powerless again.

Then King Hovarth, Skerren's mentor and the closest thing he has to family, is badly wounded. Skerren is named the king's heir, even though he never asked for the role. An arrogant prince challenges his claim, enemies inside the village create new problems, and the Night Lander Horde remains a threat beyond Varagog's walls.

That gives the story two kinds of tension at once. Skerren has to protect his home from an outside attack while figuring out whom he can trust inside it. His old grief and questions about his parents' deaths make every decision feel more personal.
