Series background & context
The Honey Badger Chronicles take the already wild Pride world and hand the microphone to its most unhinged residents. Honey badger shifters are hard to kill, impossible to intimidate, and inclined to treat crime lords and international conspiracies like items on a to do list. The series focuses on the MacKilligan sisters and the family of tigers who are unlucky enough to get tangled up with them.
In Hot and Badgered, oldest sister Charlie Taylor MacKilligan is just trying to keep her siblings alive when an assassination attempt literally drops her onto the balcony of grizzly security specialist Berg Dunn. Charlie is part human, part honey badger, and entirely done with her useless father’s schemes. Berg’s calm, steady presence and his bear family’s resources pull her into a wider shifter network, but they also make it harder for her to keep everyone at arm’s length.
In a Badger Way gives center stage to Stevie, the youngest sister, a musical prodigy and genius scientist who also happens to have a severe anxiety disorder and a deep fear of most bears. The exception is Shen Li, a giant panda shifter whose quiet humor and patience ground her. Together they take on a sadistic scientist experimenting on shifters while Stevie battles her own panic and the expectations piled on her.
Badger to the Bone focuses on Max, the most openly violent of the trio, and Zé Vargas, a jaguar shifter who is supposed to kidnap her but instead ends up running for his life at her side. Max drags him into a vendetta against a lion coalition involved in human trafficking, forcing Zé to confront who he really is and what he can do.
Later books such as Breaking Badger, Born to Be Badger, and To Kill a Badger expand the cast to include honey badger teammates and three tiger brothers from the Malone family. These stories deepen the ongoing war against the de Medici lions, who treat humans as prey, while giving each new couple room to bicker, scheme, and fall in love.
Across the series you will find high speed chases, international travel, elaborate cons, and more interspecies brawls than you can count. Yet the emotional core is always the same: sisters who would burn the world for each other, big cats learning to live with utter chaos, and a found family built out of people tough enough to survive a honey badger hug.
