Hideaway at the Lagoon Books in Order

Hideaway at the Lagoon returns to the Lumberjack Lagoon setting, but the mood is a little more protective and shelter-focused than in the original series. These books are about people who need somewhere to land, sometimes because they are hiding, sometimes because they are exhausted, and sometimes because life has pushed them harder than expected.

That changes the feel in a good way. The heroes are still burly lumberjacks and the romances are still quick and steamy, but there is a stronger sense that the town itself is offering refuge. A woman can arrive from another place carrying trouble or fear, and the story becomes partly about whether she can trust the safety being offered to her.

The titles tell you a lot. Grumpy Lumberjack, Pretending with the Lumberjack, Daddy Vibes Lumberjack, Protected by the Lumberjack, and Captivated by the Lumberjack are all working in very recognizable trope space. What gives the series its own identity is the way those tropes are tied to the idea of hiding out and starting over.

If you like Lumberjack Lagoon but want a slightly more intense version of it, this is a good next step. The town is familiar, but the emotional stakes are a little sharper.
