Hidden Hollows Books in Order

Hidden Hollows is a shared-world series rather than a single-author saga, which gives it a slightly different feel from Johnson's ranch worlds.

The connecting idea is small-town romance. Different authors contribute different books, but they all use the same general setting and the same promise: emotionally accessible contemporary romance with a wholesome streak and a strong local-community feel. That means each book needs to work on its own while still feeling like it belongs on the same streets as the others.

Johnson's contribution is Loving the Bad Boy. Her heroine, Catalina Garcia, is a cancer survivor staring down an anxious annual checkup and trying to stop putting life on hold. Her hero, Westley York, is the local bad boy with a reputation he no longer cares to defend. When Cat decides to attack her bucket list instead of waiting around in fear, Westley ends up dragged into her plans, and their week together becomes far more important than either expected.

That setup fits the series well.

It has the small-town familiarity, the guarded hero, the good-hearted heroine, and the sense that a place can trap people in old stories about themselves. Johnson's version adds extra urgency because Cat is trying to choose life in a very literal way.
