Heroes and Romance Books in Order

Heroes and Romance takes superhero energy, runs it through mythology, and then refuses to play it straight. This is an urban fantasy setup where descendants of gods are supposed to protect humanity, but fame, legacy, and institutions have made the whole thing a lot messier than the glossy public version.

The series opens with Lightning & Thunder, which follows Pollux Lux Keraunos, heir to Zeus and reluctant troublemaker in chief. Lux would much rather expose the corrupt Hero Council than serve it. Then his brother vanishes, the line of Zeus needs an heir in public, and Lux gets shoved into training with Erik Thorson, the beloved descendant of Thor and his brother's best friend.

That setup gives the series its shape. There are monsters and powers, sure, but there are also media expectations, political damage control, and family names that can trap a person just as badly as any villain can. Hero status here is not only about saving people. It is about image, succession, and who gets to decide what goodness looks like.

Superhero shine is only part of the story.

The ongoing tension comes from a simple question: can a broken institution be reformed from inside, or does it need to be torn down? Lux and Erik land on different sides of that instinct, which makes the romance sparkier and the stakes more personal. Every act of rescue or rebellion also becomes an argument about power.

Expect fast banter, queer romance, action scenes, and a world that treats godly inheritance like both a gift and a trap. If you like your fantasy a little chaotic, a little horny, and very willing to poke at hero myths, this is the page to watch.
