Author bio

Heidi Swain calls the beautiful countryside of South Norfolk home. For her, this quiet corner of England is more than just a place to live. It is a constant source of inspiration. The rolling landscapes and picturesque villages of her daily life often find their way into the pages of her novels. If you have ever felt like you could step right into one of her stories and walk down the high street, that is probably why. The setting is as real to her as the characters she creates.

She didn’t start out as a full-time author, though. Like many of us, she had other responsibilities first.

Heidi was passionate about storytelling from a very young age, but life has a way of keeping you busy. She studied literature at university, which only deepened her love for the written word. After her studies, she spent years working in education and journalism. Writing remained a dream in the background, something she loved but hadn't fully pursued.

It wasn’t until she gathered the courage to join a creative writing class that things really began to change. That decision turned out to be the spark she needed. It gave her the confidence to take her writing seriously and finally focus on her own stories.

Her big break came with her debut novel, The Cherry Tree Café. She submitted her work to the Romantic Novelists' Association, a pivotal move that helped launch her career. It wasn’t long before her talent was spotted, and she secured a publishing deal. Since then, she hasn’t looked back. She has become a household name for fans of uplifting, feel-good fiction.

Heidi is now a Sunday Times bestselling author with a loyal following.

Her writing schedule keeps her quite busy these days. She typically writes two books every year. One is usually a summer release, full of sunshine, garden parties, and outdoor fetes. The other is a festive Christmas title, packed with snow, holiday markets, and cozy firesides.

Despite the changing seasons, the core ingredients of her novels remain the same. Her stories are always about friendship, family, and the profound joy of coming home.

Readers often describe reading her books as receiving a warm hug in book form. The atmosphere is always inviting and safe. However, her stories are not just about escaping reality. Her characters are relatable people who face real-life challenges. They navigate tricky relationships, career changes, and personal doubts. But in true Heidi Swain fashion, they always find their way to a happy ending.

Her fictional worlds have become beloved destinations for her fans. You might find yourself in the close-knit market town of Wynbridge, where everyone looks out for one another. Or perhaps you will visit Nightingale Square, where a community garden brings neighbors together in unexpected ways. Then there is the coastal retreat of Wynmouth, perfect for a seaside escape. These settings feel like characters in their own right, grounding the stories in a strong sense of place.

When she steps away from her keyboard, Heidi enjoys the simple pleasures in life.

She is a keen gardener, which explains why flowers and green spaces feature so heavily in her books. She also loves collecting vintage memorabilia, often hunting for unique treasures that have a story to tell. Above all, she values time spent with her family and her mischievous cat.

Heidi Swain continues to craft stories that offer a perfect sanctuary from the modern world. For her readers, opening one of her books feels like returning to a place where they truly belong.
