Hawke and Stryker Thrillers Books in Order

Axton Hawke and Kael Stryker bring a buddy-investigator energy to Ty Patterson's shared thriller world. They are former Special Forces operators, now working as private investigators in New York, which gives the series a mix of street-level grit, old military instincts, and cases that can go from routine to catastrophic in a hurry.

The setup is easy to like. These are not polished society detectives. They are men who have done dangerous work before and are still wired to respond when a case turns violent. In Blackfire, what looks like a straightforward corporate espionage job lands on their desk and quickly proves that normal office trouble is not what they are dealing with.

That is the general shape of the series. Hawke and Stryker start by pulling on one thread, then find themselves staring at a much bigger web. Because there are two leads, Patterson gets more room for friction, humor, and tactical back-and-forth than he does with some of his loner heroes. The duo format also makes the books feel a little more like modern PI thrillers, even when the stakes stretch into intelligence work or organized violence.

New York matters here too. The city gives the series speed and texture, and it fits Hawke and Stryker's style. They are hard men in a crowded place, trying to stay one step ahead of people who usually have better money, better cover, or better official protection.

They do not scare easily.

If you like investigators with military backgrounds, strong partner chemistry, and cases that refuse to stay small, this series is a good fit. Start with Blackfire and then move through the later books in order. Even when the plot gets bigger, the basic appeal stays simple, put two capable men in a bad situation, give them just enough information to know they are in trouble, and let them push forward anyway.
