Series background & context

Harborside Nights is a contemporary romance mini-series by Melissa Foster set in Harborside, Massachusetts. It begins with a group of friends pulled together by grief and shared history, and it keeps the focus on what happens after the funeral, when real life returns but nothing feels quite the same.

The books work best in order because the emotional fallout and the friend-group dynamics carry across the series. Characters lean on each other, argue, heal, and slowly figure out who they are as adults, not just as the kids who once spent summers together.

Harborside adds a quiet, coastal mood to the stories. There are familiar places that hold memories, a family summer home, local spots where everyone knows the backstory, and the sense that a small town can both comfort you and force you to face the truth.

The tone is more intimate than some of the larger family sagas. There’s still humor and heat, but there’s also a strong thread of vulnerability, the kind that comes from admitting you’re lonely, you’re scared, or you’ve been in love with your best friend for years.

The series also makes room for different kinds of love stories. Alongside a classic best-friends-to-lovers setup, there are LGBTQ romances that keep the same warm, grounded approach to character and community.

Start with Catching Cassidy, then continue with Discovering Delilah and Tempting Tristan.
