Series background & context

Guardians begins with The Last of the Guardians, a fantasy novel set in the world of Regent. Regent has long been seen as a peaceful paradise, but that peace is beginning to break apart after the murder of one of its most respected protectors.

The protectors are known as Guardians. As more of them disappear, the seven kingdoms grow fearful and begin preparing for war in secret. Darkness spreads across the valley while people who once trusted the old order start to wonder whether it can survive.

Hope arrives from an unexpected place.

A young warrior from the distant future enters this troubled version of Regent, hoping to prevent the chaos he remembers. The task is made harder because the world is not exactly as he left it. Friends from his past are gone, familiar names belong to unfamiliar faces, and enemies pursue him for what he knows about events still to come.

The emotional conflict is as important as the coming war. The warrior finds that the woman he loves does not remember their life together, forcing him to weigh a personal bond against the chance to save an entire world.

The story combines time displacement, fantasy politics, looming war, and a romance shaped by memory and loss. It is a tale about trying to change the future without losing the people who make that future worth saving.

Since The Last of the Guardians is the listed starting point, it is the right place to begin. Readers can expect a self-contained opening that establishes Regent, the Guardians, and the threat facing the seven kingdoms.
