Gloves Off Books in Order

If you want L.P. Dover at her hottest and messiest, Gloves Off is probably the series people will hand you first. These books are set in the MMA world, but they are not really sports stories in the technical sense. They are high-heat romance dramas built around fighters, rivalries, secret hookups, grudges, and the kind of emotional fallout that keeps echoing from one book to the next.

The series opens with the two-part prequel A Fighter's Desire, which tells you immediately what kind of ride this is going to be. The Jameson twins, Ryley and Camden, are not subtle men, and Ashleigh gets pulled into a setup that is all temptation, competition, and shifting power. From there, the books move outward through the same fight-circle cast, and that shared history is what gives the series its punch.

Tyler's Undoing starts the main run with Tyler Rushing and Kacey Andrews, then Ryley's Revenge digs into unfinished business between Ryley, Ashleigh, and Camden. Paxton's Promise shifts focus to Gabriella Reynolds and Paxton Emerson, while still feeding the larger web of jealousy, loyalty, and danger. Later books like Camden's Redemption and Kyle's Return show what happens when men who have done real damage try to rebuild anything at all.

One reason the series works is that Dover does not pretend these people are always calm or sensible. Fighters carry ego. Old hurts turn ugly. Attraction shows up at terrible times. People want revenge almost as often as they want love. That makes the whole thing feel a little soapier than some of her other series, but in a good way if that is what you came for.

It is also more suspenseful than it first appears. Beneath the hookups and fighter bravado, there are stalkers, hidden enemies, dangerous exes, and connections to darker parts of Dover's romantic-suspense world. The books do not just sit inside the cage. They keep finding reasons to bring outside trouble crashing through the ropes.

Read this one in order. Really. The relationships are too tangled, the grudges too ongoing, and the emotional payoffs too connected to treat these like clean standalones. Even Winter Kiss: Ryley and Ash, the holiday novella, lands better when you already know what those two survived.

So what should you expect overall? Very steamy romance, a shared MMA world, lots of crossover between couples, and a tone that runs from playful to dark in a hurry. If you like fighters, bad decisions, loyal friend groups, and romance that comes with a black eye or two, Gloves Off absolutely knows its audience.
