Series background & context

Gift-Wrapped Romance is a multi-author collection of sweet contemporary holiday romantic comedies. Each book follows a different couple, so readers can choose any title that appeals, but the shared mood is consistent: Christmas pressure, mixed-up plans, awkward proximity, and a chance for a new beginning before the holiday is over.

Mindy Burbidge Strunk's entry is Jingle Bell Jilt. It begins with a wedding that does not happen, leaving Shay to face the holiday season without the future she expected. Rather than quietly retreating, she takes a solo honeymoon trip, hoping to make something worthwhile out of an awful situation.

A cancelled wedding is not a cancelled Christmas.

Shay's plans bring her to Orlando, where she crosses paths with Evan, the best friend of her former fiancé. Evan is also connected to the place where Shay is staying, which means the pair cannot simply avoid one another. Their situation is inherently awkward, and the story makes room for that discomfort as well as the humor of a holiday trip that keeps changing shape.

The romance uses a mix of forced proximity, banter, and the question of whether it is ever wise to fall for someone connected to an ex. Shay is understandably wary after being jilted, while Evan has to prove that his interest is not a passing response to a messy circumstance. Christmas activities and a theme-park setting keep the tone bright, but the emotional issue is real: starting again can feel disloyal to the plans a person once had.

As the fifth book in the wider Gift-Wrapped Romance collection, Jingle Bell Jilt can still be read completely on its own. The other titles are separate stories by other authors, linked by their seasonal romantic-comedy approach rather than by an ongoing cast.

Expect a quick, sweet modern romance with holiday mishaps, a jilted-bride premise, and a love interest who seems like the worst possible choice on paper. It is a good pick for readers who want a Christmas story that stays playful while giving its heroine room to reset her expectations.
