Series background & context

Galefire begins with Fade Rippers, an urban fantasy thriller where street crime, digital conflict, supernatural powers, and buried memories all collide. Kenny Soward sets the story in a violent modern world that has more hiding beneath its surface than most people realize.

Lonnie works as a drug runner for the Eighth Street Gang. After a deal goes wrong, he is pulled into a firefight that reveals the gang leader, Selix, is not simply a dangerous criminal. She draws power from a place called the Fade, and the things Lonnie sees begin to crack open memories that he did not know were missing.

Nothing is quite what it first appears to be.

The novel also follows Angie Roman, who has just survived a serious cyber battle and becomes interested in Lonnie and the gang around him. Her investigation points toward a larger struggle involving supernatural beings, demons, and a threat that could reach far beyond one neighborhood. Staying close to Lonnie may reveal the truth, but it could also put Angie and Jack directly in danger.

The tone is dark, fast, and weird in a deliberate way. Gang loyalty sits beside magic. Technology is not separate from the supernatural, it is another way for people to watch, manipulate, and fight. Characters carry bruises, secrets, and loyalties that make every alliance uncertain.

Fade Rippers is the place to start, and it works as the entry point for this corner of Soward's work. Readers who enjoy supernatural thrillers with street-level danger, altered memories, and otherworldly threats should know what kind of ride they are getting into fairly quickly.

Expect violence, paranoia, and escalating revelations, with dragons and demons waiting at the edge of the story.
