2016

A seven year cease fire has lulled the galaxy into a fragile peace, but shattered worlds and scattered crews show how thin that peace really is. When a renewed Jung threat emerges in unfamiliar form, a new kind of leader must rise to rally the resistance.

Series background & context

Frontiers Saga: Rogue Castes picks up several years after the end of the Discovery arc. A hard won cease fire has kept the Jung dynasty at bay, but half the sector is still scarred by war, worlds are rebuilding unevenly, and the political map is far from stable. Into that vacuum steps a new power, the Dusahn Empire, whose ambitions quickly eclipse the last conflict.

The Dusahn manipulate events from the shadows, running false flag operations that frame the Jung and push the Sol–Pentaurus Alliance toward another devastating war. Longtime allies begin to distrust one another, and ordinary citizens are exhausted by decades of sacrifice. The sense that the victors of the last war could easily become the villains of the next runs through the whole series.

At the same time, Nathan Scott’s fate takes a strange turn. After the events hinted at at the end of Part 1, his consciousness becomes tied to a man known as Connor Tuplo, raising questions about identity, memory, and what it means to be the same person after your body and past have changed. Early books in Rogue Castes follow Connor as he wrestles with that knowledge and decides whether to reclaim Nathan’s role or walk away.

The resistance group known as the Karuzari becomes the backbone of the new fight. Operating from stolen and refitted ships, they conduct raids, rescue missions, and diplomacy on the fly, slowly knitting together a broader Karuzari Alliance. Some of their allies are obvious, others uneasy, including people and factions that once stood on the opposite side of the war.

Rogue Castes leans harder into moral gray areas than Part 1. Nathan, Jessica, Miri, and other returning characters face choices where every option carries a cost, whether that means partnering with former enemies, uprooting entire populations for their own safety, or risking a single loved one to save millions. Elite units like the Ghatazhak bring cutting edge tech and cloned operatives into the mix, raising questions about what acceptable sacrifice looks like in a war that never seems to end.

By the later episodes, the Karuzari Alliance can finally challenge the Dusahn directly. Massive set piece battles, secret weapons, and fragile multi world coalitions all converge as the series drives toward Into the Serpent's Lair, where empires teeter on the brink of total war and Nathan has to decide how far he is willing to go, and whom he is willing to trust, to keep the sector from burning down.

For readers, Rogue Castes delivers the same quick paced space combat and shipboard camaraderie as Discovery, but with higher political stakes and more emphasis on resistance tactics, covert operations, and the lingering trauma of people who have already saved the world once and are being asked to do it again.
