Fortune's Island Books in Order

Fortune's Island is one of Shirley Jump's more overtly dreamy settings, but the stories themselves stay rooted in real emotional mess. The island is romantic, a little secluded, and full of the kind of scenery that encourages people to think about what they really want. That makes it a perfect place for characters who have been ducking love, clinging to the wrong routine, or pretending their past does not still matter.

The island does not let that slide.

In And Then Forever, Darcy Williams is keeping her life deliberately simple, waitressing at the Love Shack and staying away from big risks. Then Kincaid Foster, the man tied to a painful part of her past, steps off the ferry and blows open all the feelings she would rather keep buried. Can't Get Over You keeps the same tone of reinvention and longing, following Jillian Matheson as she decides her life needs a reset and discovers that change is easier to plan than to live through.

Fortune's Island works because it feels slightly apart from the mainland, emotionally as much as physically. Arrivals matter. Departures matter. The ferry itself becomes part of the rhythm, bringing back people who thought they were gone for good and forcing characters to face versions of themselves they would rather leave behind.

The series tone is romantic and a little wistful, but it is not overdone. Jump likes women who are practical even when their hearts are not, and men who may be more vulnerable than they first appear. The push and pull in these books comes from history, regret, and the uncomfortable fact that some places make it impossible to keep pretending you have moved on.
