Series background & context

Forbidden Fantasies is exactly what the name suggests, romance built around the moment somebody decides to act on a desire they have been trying very hard to keep theoretical. That makes this a natural home for Tawny Weber, who likes writing characters right at the edge between control and impulse.

In this kind of story, the initial hook is often simple. A vacation. A disguise. A fling that is only supposed to last a few days. A fantasy that seems safe because it is temporary. Weber knows those promises are fragile, and she uses them well. Once the fantasy becomes real, feelings tend to arrive right behind it.

Temporary plans have a way of overstaying.

Riding the Waves is a strong example of the vibe. A tightly wound heroine heads to Mexico planning to loosen up for once, finds the perfect surf instructor for a no-strings escape, and then learns that real life is not done with either of them yet. That mix of sensual wish fulfillment and inconvenient emotional fallout is very much the point of the series.

The tone is playful, hot, and a little escapist, but not empty. Weber wants the fantasy, yes, yet she also wants the crash back into reality when the characters realize they cannot tuck the experience away and go back to normal. That is where the better emotional beats tend to live.

This page is a good stop for readers who want contemporary romance with a strong fantasy element but no paranormal framework required. If you like bold setups, sexy getaway energy, and characters who discover that one indulgent decision can change far more than a weekend, Forbidden Fantasies should work well.
