Series background & context

For Love or For Revenge wears its central conflict right in the title, which is helpful because the whole series turns on that exact choice. Becky blames millionaire Connor Dade for the loss of her bookstore. When an opening appears to work for him, she takes it, not because she trusts him, but because getting close looks like the best way to hit back.

Then attraction gets in the way.

That is the series in one line. Becky enters Connor's world with a plan, but revenge stories inside romance never stay tidy for long. The more time she spends around him, the harder it becomes to keep anger and desire in separate boxes. At the same time, Connor is not a harmless fantasy hero. He is wealthy, used to control, and more complicated than the version Becky has been carrying in her head.

The setup gives the trilogy a nice push-pull rhythm. Becky is always deciding whether she is moving toward the man or toward the outcome she promised herself. Connor, meanwhile, is not simply waiting to be judged. He has his own perspective, his own blind spots, and eventually his own reasons to feel betrayed.

Because the books are short, they lean hard on momentum. Every new scene has to sharpen either the sexual tension or the emotional stakes, and usually it does both. Readers get workplace proximity, hidden motives, and the fun of watching a heroine realize that the man she came to punish may not fit the role she assigned him.

There is also something slightly meaner underneath the flirtation, in a good way. This is not just about will they or won't they. It is about whether two people can come back from manipulation once they have both started hurting each other on purpose. That gives the trilogy a slightly sharper edge than some lighter billionaire romances.

If you like revenge premises that turn messy once real feelings show up, For Love or For Revenge does exactly what it promises. It is short, steamy, and driven by the question of whether love can survive a plan that was never meant to leave room for it.
